With Prelude Lite, you get four (4) page widths, sometimes referred to as a “boxed layout“.
- Full Width (default)
- Boxed Width 1300px
- Boxed Width 1400px
- Boxed Width 1500px
Note The pro version has a couple more sizes.
This theme is designed with the Bootstrap grid layout, so if we take the full width page template as an example, your main content will have a standard width of 1190px. This theme is also responsive, so this will of course reduce in size as your viewing window decreases, but your boxed widths will max out to the sizes you see listed above. As your window shrinks, the smaller boxed widths will become full width of your browser window. Ultimately, the boxed sizes are quite large and are best suited for larger screen resolutions.
Let’s use my own monitor (2560px resolution) as an example as I change the page size to each one, starting from the full width (default) setting:
Make Your Choice
- Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Options
- Look for the “Boxed Style” setting and make your selection
- Click “Save & Publish“
Adjust the Boxed Style Margin Spacing
When you choose your boxed style, you can adjust the top and bottom margin spacing for the main page container. By default, the top is flush to the top of the browser window, but if you want more spacing to give a floating effect, this tutorial will do that.
- Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Options
- Look for the “Page Top & Bottom Space” setting and enter in your pixel value (only the number part, not the px part). For example, if you want 20px, just enter in 20 or keep it as the default of 0. You can either type in your value or use the up/down arrows on the right of the field when you mouseover.
- Click “Save & Publish“
