Longevity gives you 5 9preset colour choices (Longevity Pro offers 15 colours) that you can use. I normally don’t do preset colours, but because this theme uses a special curved graphic on the front of the site, we need to have this available for each colour option, otherwise you would have to manually create a new curved banner graphic. So I did this for you with the following colour selections:
- Default (blue)
- Grey
- Burgandy
- Green
- Yellow
- Orange (new)
- Aqua (new)
- Taupe (new)
- White (new)
Choose Your Colour
- Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Colours
- Here you can choose your colour preset.
- When you are happy with your colour choice, click “Save & Publish“
Using Colours Not Available as a Preset
Longevity currently offers 5 colour presets, but if you decide that you want a different colour, you have a couple choices:
- Opt in to get Longevity Pro, which gives you 10 more colours for a total of 15 colour schemes
- You can use the existing colour schemes available, but now you can take advantage of custom colours.
If you decide to create your own custom CSS style overrides, you can use the Edit CSS feature in Jetpack (if you use Jetpack), or you can use a plugin like Simple CSS to handle this task. If you need to find out what element in a page to make a colour change to, use the support forum for this theme at wordpress.org to ask, and we will be happy to assist you.
Custom Banner Curve For custom colours, you won’t be able to customize the curved graphics unless you have an image program. You will need to pick a preset colour, then apply custom colours to other elements in the page.
Now you can customize your theme with Colour Selectors
Since version 1.2.6, Longevity now includes many colour option settings for various page elements that you can select the colour you want. This gives you unlimited colours.
Please remember that the curved graphic cannot be customized unless you have an image program with that capability, otherwise you will still need to choose a preset colour, then apply custom colours to other elements.
- Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Colours
- We still need to choose a colour for the banner curved graphic, so choose the colour from the “Colour Scheme” dropdown. Choose a colour that you think will work with your custom colours you are about to use.
- Uncheck the “Load Colour Scheme Stylesheet” and then check the box next to “Load Custom Colour Styles” so that your new colours will load in your page.
- Start making your colour changes with the colour selectors
- Click “Save & Publish“
