Unfortunately WordPress does not give you the option to disable (hide) widget titles from the front-end of your web pages. There are times when you might want to hide a widget title, but to do this, we need a plugin. The one I recommend is called “Remove Widget Titles” from Stephen Cronin.
Normally people have simply left the title field empty when they publish a widget, but this can be a major problem if your website has a ton of widgets. Having empty title fields means that finding a widget to edit later is going to create a game of hide-and-seek.
Let’s Get Our Plugin
- Go to Plugins >> Add New
-
In the search field, type in Remove Widget Titles and look for it to show up.
- Click “Install Now” and then “Activate” it
Using Remove Widget Titles
When you have this plugin active, it gives you a very simple method to hide titles from the front-end while maintaining a title for the admin to see. Simpley add an “exclamation mark” ! just before the title. For example, if your widget title is this:
Front Page Banner
….then to hide the title from the front (because you don’t want a title showing with your nice banner images), add ! just before the title like this:
!Front Page Banner
